Single and Double Hung windows are classic styles that are known for their traditional aesthetic and architecturally correct designs.
They typically come adorned with SDL or muntin bars giving the classic "Cottage" feel.
Double Hung units have increasingly become the more popular of the two styles for their ability to operate both the upper and lower sashes as opposed to Single Hungs which only allow for the operation of the bottom sash. This popularity has caused Double Hungs to be more widely available by the majority of window manufacturers. The tradeoff of course is that Single Hung windows are less prone to mechanical defects being that the top sash of the window is fixed in place.
Double Hung windows tend to be the preferred choice in the Central and Northern parts of Florida for their traditional style and historical project applications.
